The monthly lunches aim to help combat social isolation and have also been used to provide informal contact with a variety of agencies. April saw the first post-Covid restrictions lunch held and was well supported by the community, volunteers and partner agencies.

Held on the last Monday of the month in the Fishermen's Hall, Buckie, from 12 noon to 1.30pm, the next three lunch dates have been scheduled for September 29, October 31 and November 28.

Soup and sweet, as well as tea and coffee, are available, plus the chance to meet and chat informally to local support agencies and groups.

There is no charge although donations are appreciated.

The community lunches are run by a dedicated group of volunteers from the Buckie Community Monitoring Group, supported by Moray Food Plus.

The community lunches have their origins in the A Better Buckie campaign, the central aim of the Local Outcome Improvement Plan. The plan, which was launched in August 2019, is set to run for 10 years.
