PUPILS at Ordiquhill Primary School delighted audiences recently with their own version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

At least 140 parents and guests turned up to see the school’s interpretation of the classic Judy Garland movie.

Acting head teacher Margaret Thomson said: "The children were terrific.

"Every one of the 65-strong school roll were involved somehow, either on stage or behind the scenes."

The dress rehearsal thrilled members of the school’s nursery class before two standing-room only audiences enjoyed matinee and evening performances the following day.

The show featured all of the film’s classic songs from the signature song ‘Over the Rainbow’ to’ Follow The Yellow Brick Road and ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’.

Mrs Thomson added: "We couldn’t have put the show on at all without great support from our parents.

"They either made or supplied their offspring with costumes and a band of volunteers created the scenery and got the props together. The children themselves decorated the hall.

"Two parents in particular were wonderful. They came into the school and created 20 munchkin costumes with a pair of sewing machines, which was remarkable.

"The show was a great way to bring the term to a close and send everybody home looking forward to Christmas and new year."
