Winter house closure could harm tourism

PLANS to close Duff House Art Gallery over the winter to save money has
been met with concern by a Banff tourism group.
Banffshire Coast tourism partnership has raised its fears with Aberdeenshire Council that tourism in the area will be affected by the move.
The local authority is looking to save £88,000 from its annual funding of more than £400,000 for the visitor attraction.
Tourism partnership chairman, Roger Goodyear, said: “We recognise and sympathise with the council’s problems over Duff House and that economic times are tough.
“We are very concerned however, about a possible winter closure and wonder if this is just the first step and have raised this with the council.
