GRAMPIAN Police is seeking information on a road incident where a car was struck by an unknown object and received substantial damage.

The blue Ford Mondeo had been travelling south on the A947 Turriff to Aberdeen road at Boggieschalloch Woods at about 5pm on Thursday, November 17, when it was hit.

PC Mike Taylor from Turriff police office said: "The consequences, of this incident, could have been very different. It’s only by luck that the item struck a more substantial vehicle and no injury was caused to the driver.

"At the time the road was very busy with traffic travelling north towards Turriff and there is a high likelihood that the incident was witnessed.

"It is unknown what exactly hit the Mondeo, if it was kicked up from the road by a passing vehicle or had been trailing from a passing vehicle."

Anyone who witnessed the incident, and would like to help, should contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700, can call in at their nearest police office or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
