A PENSIONER killed in a road crash on the A95 Keith-Banff road last Thursday has been named by police as Keith man Gordon Stephen.

Mr Stephen (71) had been travelling in his car when it collided with a tractor near Grange at about 11am.

A 48-year old woman, who was a passenger in the black Subaru Tribeca, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and treated for serious injuries that were not life threatening. A 58-year-old woman, who was the front seat passenger, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with slight injuries.

It is understood they were heading to a funeral service near New Deer.

The 47-year-old male driver of the green John Deere tractor, who had been heading towards Keith, was uninjured.

Grampian Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Scott Mann said: ""Tragically a man has died and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries into establishing the cause of the collision are at an early stage and investigators spent several hours carrying out a detailed examination of the scene which resulted in the road being closed until 7.00pm last Thursday evening.

"We have already spoken with a number of witnesses and I’d like to thank all of those who stopped to assist.

"We would, however, like anyone else who may have witnessed the collision, or its immediate aftermath, who has not yet spoken to us, to get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with information can contact Grampian Police by calling 0845 600 5 700.
