Banff firefighter honoured for harbour rescue

A FIREFIGHTER who helped rescue a woman from a car which had plunged into Macduff Harbour has been honoured.

Kevin Smith (43) is a full-time firefighter and works as a training officer in Aberdeen.

He is also a member of the retained team in Banff.

Mr Smith has received an award from the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals for his part in the rescue of a woman from her car in October 2015.

He dived underwater to reach the woman and safely remove her from the sinking car.
