A POPULAR dog training club is in need of a new venue after it was given notice it has to vacate its base at Banff Castle.

Deveron Dog Training Club was told in February that it has a year to find new premises, as the ground rented to it by the castle is to be used in the facility’s west pavilion development.

Doris Chisholm, chairwoman of the group, told the ‘Banffshire Journal’ this week that the group is appealing to anyone who has land available to get in contact with her.

She said: "We have been based at the castle for 14 years.

"John Gee, the original group trainer before me, was looking for ground for the dogs’ agility classes and thought the land at the castle would be suitable for the purpose.

"It really was just a rubbish tip with a broken greenhouse and shards of glass and rubble in it.

"However, the group cleared out all the rubbish, rotavated and top soiled the ground, and grass seeded it.

Anyone who can help the club can contact Ms Chisholm by calling 01261-821304.
