ROAD policing officers will be escorting abnormal loads from Peterhead Harbour to the wind farm site at Muirake, Portsoy, from Thursday, November 10.

The component parts of two turbines will be escorted to the site over a maximum of six days, leaving Peterhead Harbour daily at 9.30am. Although exact dates have still to be confirmed it is anticipated that the operation will be completed by Friday, November 18.

The loads will leave Smith Embankment, Peterhead at 9.30am each day and the initial route to be followed will be Charlotte Street, Errol Street, and South Road, Peterhead before turning right onto the A90 Peterhead bypass.

At the roundabout junction with the A950 Peterhead to New Pitsligo road the convoy will turn left onto the A950 and continue through Longside, Mintlaw and New Pitsligo to the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff road, where it will turn left and continue west to Macduff and Banff.

After passing through Banff the convoy will continue west towards Portsoy on the A98 turning left at the B9022 heading south towards Muirake.

The convoy will be periodically stopped to alleviate tailbacks, however motorists are requested to exercise patience should they encounter the loads or use an alternative route if at all possible.
