The new centre is a major boost to the Banff area.

The new facility is part of a £12.5 million investment in the Banff and Macduff area by Aberdeenshire Council.

An open day was held at the centre for the public to have a look at the new centre, which is on the Banff Academy campus.

It includes a climbing wall, four-court sports hall, two squash courts, fitness suite, revamped swimming pool, dance studio and a cafe. Outside there is an eight lane running track, two grass pitches, three tennis courts and a cycle track.

For a five-page picture special on the opening of the new centre, see the Banffshire Journal print version on Tuesday, March 7.
