MP David Duguid has backed two Aberchirder Scouts leaders who have launched a fundraising campaign as they get ready for an adventure of a lifetime driving from the Aberdeenshire town to Nepal this year.

Leaders Claus Nielsen and Robert Fowlie will take off in a Landrover to Pokhara, Nepal on Saturday, August 29, to meet up with a twinned group.

They are looking to raise £12000 for the trip to go ahead.

In a letter to the pair, he said: “I’m writing to offer my best wishes and support to your upcoming fundraising drive.

“This is such a unique and original fundraiser and I cannot imagine what an adventure you will be embarking on.

“I wish you all the best and am more than happy to promote your fundraiser on social media and to come out and visit you at the locals scouts to learn more .”

He has also invited the trio to the UK Parliament for a tour.

Mr Duguid added: "Finally, if you (Claus) and Robert Fowlie happen to be driving through central London during a day when I am in Westminster, I would be more than happy to invite you to Parliament for a tour. "

People can support the pair by emailing 1st.marnoch.scout@gmail.com.
