The latest rehearsal of Fyvie Community Choir on Thursday evening saw members welcome several representatives of the Friends of Turriff Community Hospital to hand over a donation of £700 raised during a special concert.

In December, the choir held a fundraising Christmas Concert performance at Fyvie Parish Church as member Marion Ewanson explained: "The proceeds are normally split between two projects, one local and one national, but this year we heard about the work being done at Turriff Hospital and decided that all the funds should be used there."

Receiving the donation, Mary Duguid of the Friends said: "On behalf of the Friends I would like to really thank the choir for this kind donation, it is great that you have chosen our charity to put your money towards.

"This is a big year for Turriff, the Friends of the Hospital are hoping, fingers crossed, that we get the palliative suite started this year.

"This is a project that has been on the go for many years now but we are getting further ahead with.

"It is something that patients from Fyvie, Cuminestown, Turriff and the surrounding area are all going to get use of.

"End of life care is just so important and this is what our big project will be this year to get this up and running to make things more comfortable at end of life for patients and their families.

"The suite will have a kitchen and sitting area as well.

"We're always going to need funding to keep it furnished as well as it needs special furnishings.

"Its one room and were extending into the internal courtyard to do this.

"We are very thankful for this donation."
