A charity which supports people living with diabetes has received a boost to the tune of £17,000 from local quines.

The group of Turriff ladies, who organise fundraisers under the title Let's Knockout Type 1, recently presented the monumental cheque to JDRF's Scotland fundraising manager Carol Kennedy who described the total as "incredible".

The money was raised through a ladies day event which took place in Turriff Bowling Club last month, and the final total was rounded up to £17,000 by a generous donation following the event.

As well as supporting those living with type 1 diabetes, JDRF also use their funds to accelerate research within the UK into cures, treatments and prevention.

Some of the research currently being funded by JDRF includes artificial pancreas' and smart insulin which would greatly improve the quality of life for those living with type 1 diabetes by providing constant monitoring and correction.
