Turriff Sports Centre and Swimming Pool will open in 2020 with revised opening hours, following a review of operations.

Customers have asked for the Sports Centre to open earlier in the mornings, allowing them to exercise before work.

Low use of the facility at the weekends, in particular in the afternoons, has also led to changes.

They will take effect in January and will see both facilities open from 7am on weekdays.

The pool will continue to close at 9pm on weekday evenings, whilst the sports centre will also close at 9pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, remaining open to 10pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Swimming pool opening hours are unchanged on weekends, but the sports centre will now open from 8am, closing at the earlier time of noon.

Community Leisure officer Stuart Grant said: "The changes reflect demand from the local community and we hope this will provide a boost to current users and those who currently can't access the facilities as they don’t open early enough."

Clubs who use the 3G pitches at weekends will be unaffected as access will be controlled by staff at the swimming pool and customers will still be able to book parties for weekend afternoons, all subject to staff availability.
