Huntly striker Angus Grant produces ‘world class chip’ for 31st goal of Highland League season but Clachnacuddin win Grant Street Park clash

A “world class” finish from the Highland League’s top marksman wasn’t enough to prevent defeat for his team.

Huntly went down 3-1 at Clachnacuddin in Wednesday night’s only league game.

The Christie Park club’s top scorer Angus Grant netted his 31st goal of the season, with the home club describing his strike on their social media as a “world class chip”.

But by then Huntly were already two goals down, as a quickfire double from Clach’s James Anderson - his 18th of the campaign - and Troy Cooper putting the Highlanders in command after 12 minutes.

Grant’s superb effort on the half hour means he has scored in each of his team’s last five matches.

However, the visitors couldn’t mount a second half comeback and their challenge was finished off by a late Scott Davidson goal for Clach.

To add to Huntly’s misery, they had Ryan Sewell sent off for a second booking.
