Deveronvale can’t break Highland League winless streak as misses prove costly against Rothes at Princess Royal Park
Deveronvale were left to rue missed scoring opportunities in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Rothes.
Jack Mitchell’s fourth goal of the season rescued a point for Vale after Rothes new signing Tom Brady scored a debut goal at Princess Royal Park.
The home side struck the woodwork three times in the game but their run without victory was extended to five matches.
Meanwhile Rothes ended a run of five straight defeats with a hard-earned point.
The Speysiders started with three of their four new signings made in the past week, while new goalkeeper Martin MacKinnon was on the sub’s bench.
Brady and fellow capture from Forres Mechanics, Taylor Thain started for Rothes along with striker Shane Harkness.
A good finish by Brady just after the hour steered the visitors in front, but Mitchell levelled with a header inside the closing 15 minutes.
Vale will aim to end their winless streak away to neighbours Turriff United on Wednesday night.
Rothes play host to Buckie Thistle in a Moray derby on the same night.
