The new boss has also recruited former Montrose youth coach Scott Bridgewater as a first team coach, and made his seventh player signing of the summer.

Wood will work alongside Noble as his assistant and Watt and Bridgewater will complete his background staff for the coming Highland league season.

Noble and Watt took interim charge of Vale for the last few matches of last season following the departure of last manager Craig Stewart.

Former Turriff defender Murray Esson was confirmed as the latest new face at the Banff club last week.

Wood said on the club’s Facebook page that he was delighted to get Noble in as his number two.

“He is someone who l identified very early on in the process of my application to try to get as part of my coaching team,” he said.

“He has a longstanding tie with the Vale over a number of years and having someone who the community can resonate with is vital for me.”

“He is a very ambitious young coach who fits in perfectly with what we are looking to do at the club moving forward.”

Esson (22) had a spell in the juniors with Maud having picked up Highland League experience with Vale’s neighbours Turriff.

“He has had a really good season with his club last year and is one that is keen to test himself again at Highland League level having previously played with Turriff,” said Wood.

“He is a young player who can play a number of positions and someone who fits into what we are trying to build at the club.”

Vale have also signed centre back Kyle Dalling from Huntly, midfielder Dem Yunus from Inverurie Locos, striker Adam Reid and midfielder Logan Tough from Sunnybank, Sam Mair from Islavale and Keane Davidson from Deveronside.
