Goals from Grant Noble and a goal apiece for defenders Lewis Dunbar and Michael Dunn ensured ’Vale drew with the junior side.

’Vale won 4-2 last Wednesday against Newmachar United at Charles Gordon Park thanks to goals from Noble, new signing Ross Archibald, Sam Robertson and Robert Scott.

It has been a busy pre-season for Steve Dolan’s men, who put the finishing touches to their preparations last night against Colony Park, who finished four places below Culter in last season’s McBookie Superleague.

The Highland League starts this weekend, with Deveronvale kicking the campaign off at home against Nairn County – a side they finished one point behind last season.

The first away game of the season sees ’Vale go on their longest journey of the campaign as they travel to face Wick Academy, before a home match with Huntly the week after.

The aim for Dolan’s side will be a top-half finish, having ended 13th last season.

Consistency is one thing guaranteed at Princess Royal Park this campaign, with very few comings and goings in summer.

Ross Archibald, formerly of Forres Mechanics and Lossiemouth, has joined along with Courtney Cooper from Maud.

Robbie Allan hung up his boots, while Graeme Watt retired.

Nairn’s young side will give an early indication of where Deveronvale are at in terms of their progression – as they will be another side looking to progress having finished the 2018/19 season strongly with a good group of youngsters.

Nairn have had a mixed summer and rounded off their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against East of Scotland League side St Andrew’s United. Prior to that, Nairn drew 1-1 with Burghead Thistle before a 5-4 thriller against Forres Thistle. But the result of their pre-season came with a 2-0 win at East Stirlingshire.

Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm.
