Turriff United's young striker Aaron Reid has secured a move to Aberdeen Football Club.

He will remain with The Haughs side until the transfer market opens in January when he will make the move to the Scottish Premiership team.

It will see Reid return to the Dons where he was in the youth academy until the age of 15.

Turriff United announced: "Whilst we are obviously disappointed to lose a striker of Aaron's capability and talent the opportunity to return to full-time football is something that we as a club would never stand in the way of and feel it shows the fantastic platform we provide to enable players to showcase their abilities to the fullest extent.

"Aaron will remain with us and continue to play for us until the transfer is ratified by the SFA in January."

As well as United and the Aberdeen FC youth academy, the 18-year-old has had spells at Hilton Boys Club, Cove Rangers under 18s and Montrose.

Aberdeen FC's director of football Steven Gunn said: “It has been a patient journey back, but Aaron’s determination to play at the top level never waned and he returned to training with the club last week.

“Thanks to all at Turriff United with their help in reaching a positive outcome. Aaron’s pathway shows the door is never closed for young players and we’re delighted he sees Aberdeen as the place to continue his development, particularly considering other interest he had.”
