Local golf clubs including Turriff, Kemnay Trump International are already getting ready to reopen in a safe manner and allow members to get back into sport.

The Governing Body, Scottish Golf have issued guidance for the resumption of Golf, the advice is Two Ball – balls may be from to households while maintaining physical distance and groups with up to four players permitted at the discretion of the club but only two households are represented in the group.

But all club house facilities must remain closed and no social gatherings will be allowed. Although golfing will be allowed to take place there is a large amount of restrictions on the golfer themselves.

Speakin on the potential reopening, John Gordon from Turriff Golf Club said: “We are planning to re-open on Friday 29 subject to confirmation from the First Minister on Thursday.

"Preparations for re-opening are almost complete, and guidelines have been issued to our membership.

“Play will be restricted to members only initially, and we will be following the guidance issued by Scottish Golf and the Scottish Government with respect to Covid-19 precautions.

“Play will be limited to social golf initially, but we would look to move towards competitive golf as soon as it is deemed appropriate.

“The course is in excellent condition and hopefully this spell of good weather continues such that our members are able to make full use of the course.

“We are also hoping that some people who have been enjoying walking over our course during lockdown may think about trying golf, or maybe those who have played before consider coming back to golf having been reminded of the lovely facility they have on their doorstep.

“New members are always welcome and introductory memberships are available.”
