Rothes Football Club’s bad season continues with 8-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Fraserburgh
Rothes’ poor season continued with an 8-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Fraserburgh on Saturday.
Richard Hastings’ side have now conceded 55 goals in 14 league and cup outings in a tough campaign for the Speysiders.
Having lost 7-0 at home to Fraserburgh in the league at the start of September, the MacKessack Parkers endured another miserable afternoon in the cup rematch at Bellslea Park.
Former Rothes man Aidan Sopel plundered a hat-trick in Buchan as Broch ran riot.
Sopel struck after just four minutes and also scored Fraserburgh’s third, following a goal by Scott Barbour.
Two strikes by Marley Sweenie-Rowe and one each for Liam Strachan, Sopel again for his treble and sub Sean Butcher sealed a bad day for the Speysiders.
Their next match is at home to Clach in the league on Saturday.
