THERE was happy hunting at the recent Moray Schools Cross country at Forres for both Buckie High and Milne's High.

Buckie were quick out of the blocks, snatching the titles for the S1/2 girls, S3/4 Boys and S3/4 Girls sections. In the S1/2 Boys category, Buckie scored a creditable second, losing out by just seven points to Forres Academy.

There were a number of strong personal performances too spread among the sections.

Roy Taylor claimed the S1/2 individual title, team-mate Luca Sutherland only two points behind him in third.

In the equivalent girls section, Nicole Taylor and Zara Gill were placed second and third respectively, with Brooke Keenan sixth.

Meanwhile, in the S3/4 Boys, Jack and Brodie Hutcheson took sixth and eighth places between them.

There were performances to be proud of in the S3/4 girls for Mackenzie Findlay (third) and Isla Coull (fourth).

Ellyn Smith took the S5/6 crown, finishing a 1min 34 sec ahead of her opponent.

Milne's took a 12-strong team up the A96 and came back with plenty to show for their efforts.

In S1/2, Fraser Graham came in sixth while over in the girls section there was gold for Beth Urquhart, with Eilidh Hay taking fifth and Connie Whelan ninth. The results were enough to give Milne's second place over in the girls.

Lewis Hay and Liam Munro finished third and fourth respectively in the S3/4 Boys, with Harriet Whelan finishing fifth in a very tight race where only six points separated the top five.

Finally, in the S5/6 categories, Blair Milne, Joshua Milne and Dean Murdoch crossed the line first, second and fourth –claiming the overall title – Niamh Whelan taking the girls runner-up spot.
