In a statement on the club Facebook page, the Highlands and Islands League side announced that, in line with the current government restrictions and guidelines, training for both the first team and development sections would not resume before October.

Team manager Mel Smith also went on to make a plea for more coaches to sign up.

She said: "As a club the safety of the ladies, children and coaches is paramount.

"Therefore with this in mind, and given the volume of children that attend on a Monday, we want to return when it’s safer to do so for children and coaches alike.

"Hopefully this will be sooner than October.

"When we do return, we urgently require more coaches to come on board to help our development."

Buckie Ladies first team train a Tuesday and Friday night from 6.15-7.45pm, with matches on a Sunday. More coaches are needed to supplement the current coaching duo of Smith and Kathryn Evans.

On Monday evenings, three girls' sections – P1-2 from 6pm to 6.45pm, P3-4 between 6pm and 7pm and the under-13s who meet between 7pm and 8pm – also require coaches. The under-13 have matches most Saturdays.

Smith added: "Buckie Ladies Football Development will support all new coaches and put you through the relevant coaching courses required.

"If interested in coaching, please message the Facebook page or get in contact with myself or any of the current coaches that take your child’s section. We desperately need more coaches on board to make our development possible.

"Hopefully we will be back sooner than October. We as a club, will constantly keep you posted with any more updates or information."
