The Merson Park men went in to the break 2-1 up thanks to goals from Innes McKay – enjoying his first outing in midfield – and Lucas Davidson. However, the Broch came roaring back and levelled 10 minutes into the second half.

It was a scoreline that was to remain unchanged at the final whistle, leaving Rovers two points off safety with two games in hand over seventh placed Dufftown.

Rovers co-manager Kyle Mackay said: "It was one of those games of two halves.

"We were better in the first half and had the better chances but the Broch came more into it in the second half.

"Overall, I suppose a draw was a fair result, it's a valuable point for us.

"It wasn't a quality game on a bobbly pitch but we battled well."

Rovers were hampered by missing a number of key players for a variety of reasons – Jo Sutherland, Mike Campbell, Mike Gauld, Scottie Mair and Nikki Smith.

However, the side's young midfield impressed.

Mackay added: "Lucas [Davidson] is really coming on to his game and Innes [McKay] did very well in his first time in the middle of the park."

This Saturday sees Rovers travel to Pinefield to play New Elgin in the Elginshire Cup, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm. A win would put the Buckie side in pole position for qualifying from their pool.
