This year the Singles World Championships are by invitation and Garioch Indoor Bowling Club's Carla Banks with her outstanding play in 2021 now appears in 2022 playing for a winners prize of £50,000.
She is only two games away from the Ladies final, having progressed to the quarter final.
The competitions have already started and Carla is due to play on Saturday, January 15 at 10am at the Potters Indoor Arena.
She now meets Kerry Packwood (Wales) instead of her original opposition from South Africa, because of visa/covid reasons.
Last year Carla was runner up in the World Mixed Pairs Championship and this year will be playing with new partner, England internationalist Les Gillett against Alison Merion and Paul Foster (Scotland) in the Quarter final on Friday January 14 at 2pm.
Matches are not on BBC TV until Monday but bowls enthusiasts can still see the live match on YouTube or Facebook. Go to World Indoor Bowls Championship in your search engine and follow links to live transmissions.
This exposure is good for Carla, who is very "disappointed" at not being selected for the Scottish Team at the Commonwealth Games in the summer.
