PICTURES: Another clean sheet for Keith as Kynoch Park derby with Huntly ends goalless





This was perhaps not the most memorable tussle between Keith and Huntly.

A derby fixture stretching back to 1929, and despite there being no goals, both sides gave their all at a sun drenched Kynoch Park.

The Maroons had Kieran Yeats making his 50th appearance and long serving Stewart Hutcheon came off the bench to mark his 250th appearance, a real stalwart for the club during his time.

Keith looked the better side in the first half, though it was Brodie Allen who nearly broke the deadlock for the Strathbogie side, firing inches wide.

At the other end, Keith’s top scorer Przemyslaw Nawrocki raced in from the right wing, but his low drive screwed inches past the far post.

Then with two minutes of the first half remaining the striker cut the ball across from the left wing and James Brownie forced a save from Keith Robertshaw.

After the break, Huntly got to grips and only a superb last ditch tackle by Rhys Thomas on Andy Hunter saved the day.

However, the Maroons hit back and Alex Thoirs came to the rescue to clear a Brownie header off the line.

With five minutes remaining, a brilliant save by Balint Demus denied visiting substitute Fergus Alberts, whose 20 yarder was heading for the roof of the net.

At the end of the day, on what was a fiery pitch, a draw was probably the correct result with neither side having any complaints.
