A six-strong squad represented Buckie in the five-team finale to this year's contest. The lads faced up to old foes 6/8th Dundee as well as 4/5th Kilmarnock, 3rd Perth and 7th Wishaw in the round robin format.

At stake was not just the trophy itself but, for the top two teams, the opportunity to go to the UK finals later this year.

Buckie started against 4/5th Kilmarnock, a young team who had done well in the competition last year. This was a very tight game with very few chances and Buckie played well however Kilmarnock were the sharper side and took the game 2-0.

Next Buckie were up against 6/8th Dundee who they had played in the previous round. This was a good tight match where the north boys were unlucky to be defeated by 1-0. They had a few chances in the match but could not convert them and Dundee’s early goal proved conclusive.

Things began to look up against 3rd Perth with Buckie playing well, finishing comfortable 2-0 winners.

Last for Buckie was a game with 7th Wishaw who needed to beat Buckie to be champions.

This was a really good game with both sides giving 100 per cent. Unfortunately for Buckie Wishaw got a couple of good goals to win 2-0 and so leaving Buckie in fourth place.

While the squad made the long journey north without any silverware, coach Malcolm Smith said the boys had plenty to be proud of.

"Unfortunately, Buckie paid the price for not scoring enough goals," he reflected.

"However, to get to the Scottish final for the fourth year in a row is a great achievement.

"They should all be proud of themselves."
