Ellon United bounced back from their crushing opening day experience at Culter to earn a point in a 4-4 draw against Colony Park in their first home match of the season a week past Tuesday.

A hat-trick from Callum Tremaine saw Ellon take the lead three times, only to be pegged back each time.

It looked like all United's efforts were going to go unrewarded when the visitors went ahead for the first time from the penalty spot a minute from the end but the home side were not to be denied a point and equalised straight away through an Andreas Misacas strike.

United faced another daunting trip at the weekend with a trip to Dyce Juniors and for the second Saturday running the weather was more suited to sunbathing rather than football.

The omens did not look good for the visitors when Dyce took an early lead through a strike from former United player Dean McDonald.

Full-back Donald doubled the home side's advantage with a back post header off the cross worked from a short corner with just under 20 minutes on the clock.

Ellon showed no sign of crumbling, however, steadying the ship and gaining a foothold in the contest with Dyce keeping their 2-0 lead to the interval.

Ellon fought back in the second half. Fraser Thomson came off the bench at the changeover for his first run out on his return from working down south to pull a goal back.

United were then denied a penalty when Callum Tremaine was sent sprawling in the box but the referee played an advantage with the other United players outnumbered in the area and the ball was cleared.

Ellon United: C Gibson, J Burnett, D McGuire, L Simpson, N Irvine, S Alexander, R Shand, C McIntosh (F Thomson), D Ibazebo (Lewis McDonald), C Tremaine, J Morrice, A Leonard, S Paterson.

Dyce Juniors: Bell, Donald, Johnston, Thomson, Forsyth, Reid, Wallace, McNamee, Still, Robertson, McDonald, Hutchinson, Leyden, Kelly, Livingston, Dalglish, Pennycook.

Following a midweek trip to play Deveronside, United are at home next Saturday when Nairn St Ninian will be their visitors to the Meadows with a 2pm kick-off.

United are then at home again on Tuesday, August 3 when Hall Russell United are their visitors with a 7.30pm start.
