Attendance at Delgatie Trout Fishery this week went in waves with some days very light and others quite heavy.

All told 54 rods attended catching in total some190 fish.

There were several blank sessions and 16 fishers only caught two fish or less.

The rest of the fishers made up the rest with six bags into double figures including Graeme Gould who lead the way with 20, then John Skakle with 12 and Al Murray with 12.

With regard to the larger fish 10 doubles were recorded, three large fish going to Peter Wilson topping the week with an 18lb bow, Al Murray had a 14lb 4oz, fish , and Robert Adaywith a 12lb fish to his credit

The warm temperatures kept the fish near the surface, water temperature holding at 14.5 C on average.

The rises were steady if not prolific and did last steadily throughout the day.

Even with the bright sunshine the fish were still taking wets, and emerger patterns.

Successful dry patterns included Greenwells Glory, Sedge and Sedgehog, F fly, and suspended CDC emerger patterns.

Wets were made up of Buzzers, Kate McClaren, Black Pennells, Bibio and Hares ear patterns.

After the discovery of fresh water shrimp last week some shrimp patterns were tested and had some limited success.

It was also good to see more people take up for the evening rises such as Nathan Wood and grandmother Alma Jappy who were catching well into the evening and finishing on a 12lb rainbow.
