MAUD goalkeeper Michael Ritchie was sent off for throwing a beer bottle at an opponent as nine-man Dyce came back from 2-0 down to win in the final 15 minutes.

As many as 18 bookings were handed out in a quite incredible powderkeg clash with Ian Leith scoring the all-important winner from the spot late on.

Due to injuries, suspensions and work commitments, Maud fielded possibly their youngest ever side in living memory.

But on a soft and slippy surface at Ian Mair Park they took the lead in the 23rd minute when a cross into the box was cleared as far as Kenny Mair who fed Alex Quantrill to finish.

On the half-hour they doubled their advantage when a great move on the left allowed Adam Joji to net.

Dyce had goalkeeper Andrew Pennycook to thank for keeping them in the tie with several terrific first half stops.

The hosts started the livelier of the second half sides and came close twice, but the game looked beyond them when Sean Bartlet was sent off for a second booking.

However Maud only served to switch off and Dyce's pressure was rewarded when Gordon Forsyth pulled one back, before the equaliser followed just three minutes later when a cross into the back post was well finished by Mark Bartlet.

A scuffle in the goalmouth led to David Baillie receiving his marching orders, but within moments Dyce broke clear again and won a penalty which was despatched by Leith.

And in a crazy turn of events, Ritchie was handed a red for launching the missile towards Baillie who had allegedly thrown it at the Maud keeper, having re-emerged from the dressing rooms after his own sending off.

The overly-officious referee shortly blew a halt to the drama, having handed out a quite incredible card tally.

Maud will look to pick up the pieces from a catostrophic collapse as they travel to Aberdeen Sports Village to take on Bridge of Don this Saturday.
