Almost twenty eight weeks since entertaining Fraserburgh in the SHFL, Inverurie Locos took to the field on Tuesday evening to host close neighbours Colony Park Juniors.

Inverurie Loco's were back in action in a closed doors match against neighbours Colony Park.
Inverurie Loco's were back in action in a closed doors match against neighbours Colony Park.

This closed doors friendly was played in temperatures in the low twenties, with Harlaw Park literally gleaming in the early Autumnal evening sunshine.

Locos, in their daffodil and royal kit, started spraying the ball around crisply from the off, with Gauld heading over from a Gordon centre.

New Railwayman Hamish Ritchie was impressing as was the timeless Nacho McLean in his seventeenth Locos campaign.

The skipper surged forward and fed Burnett but a raised flag ended the move.

Fourteen minutes in and 1-0 Locos, Neil GAULD lifting a twenty five yard lob over keeper Gray for a delightful finish.

Newly appointed vice captain Mitchell had a right foot drive held and Ritchie then volleyed over from a dinked Burnett assist.

Neil Gauld then had a swerving free kick and a close in effort go off target.

Locos legend Stuart McKay forced Andy Reid into a smart close range save, with McLean then slaloming down the park on a sixty yard dash before a left peg shot went narrowly wide.

Six minutes before the break and 2-0.

Sam BURNETT with a lovely finish after an ever no neat 1-2 with Gauld.

Neil Gauld then rattled the bar with Kyle Gordon missing the rebound from close.

Knight shot wide on the stroke of half time.

The second period had Chris Angus having a header saved, a Hunter shot charged down and Angus seeing Gray move his feet really quickly to reach up and the tip the ball over. Gauld renewed his spat with the Harlaw crossbars, his volley bouncing back intoplay.

Angus drove wide, Ritchie had a shot well held, another swerving effort go just wide and Mitchell shooting into the sidenet.

Locos couldn’t find the third goal, with goal attempts by Tam Reid and Neil Gauld not rippling the net.

Hinks shot over from ten yards with Gray displaying good form again with a diving save from Dingwall.

Cook held a flicked Hinks effort, before Calum Reid blasted wide from distance and had another shot caught by Cook.

Stewart Gray denied Gauld with a fingertip stop with Gill shooting wide to conclude this encounter.

A very agreeable opening display from Locos against a dogged and grafting Colony side, bossed by Kevin Bonarius for the first time.

FT Locos 2 Colony 0.
