Over the last few weeks the Inverurie Loco Works players and management team have been impressed with the excellent fundraisers being carried out during these unprecedented times.

As a squad they wanted to extend their thanks to the NHS as well as contribute to three local charities that are close to the club and football family, namely MND Association, Northsound Cash For Kids and Befriend a Child by creating the Locos24 Team Challenge.

The challenge that has been set is for each player and member of the management team to run for one hour over a 24 hour period on Saturday, May 30.

Inverurie's Greg Mitchell (front) will swap his boots for running shoes as he takes part in the Loco's 24 hour challenge.

Each hour long slot has been drawn and assigned to a squad member.

At the end of the 24 hour period the distances will be tallied up, posted on Social Media and then a nomination for another SHFL, Junior or Amateur team to take on the challenge will be made whilst remembering to donate through the Virgin Money Giving link.

To start this fundraiser the Locos players have generously donated their kitty money accumulated from fines throughout the season 19/20 and in addition, have also topped this amount up.

The only team absentee is Neil Gauld who is unavailable due to an injury sustained at the end of the season.

Instead vice chairman Graeme Hay has been drafted in due to his absence to share a run slot.

The management team have also been dealt an easier hand with a 30 minute slot but the pressure is on to get a quicker pace during this time.

Greg Mitchell will kick start the 24hr Locos run with an early start on the Saturday morning while Chopper (Ryan Broadhurst) will the finish the challenge at midnight on Saturday.

There will be photos and videos along the way to track the lads progress on the team's social media feed.
