In a statement a club spokesman said: "As you will be aware the start date for the SHFL has been pushed back until November 28 at the earliest. "This is obviously a huge disappointment to us all, but with the present danger of a further spike in Covid cases, it was felt that this was the sensible and responsible thing to do.

"The fact that the return of fans to watch football now seems unlikely for some time, this would make it financially unviable to continue playing. "Taking all things into account. especially the health and wellbeing of everybody within the club, Inverurie Locos has decided to suspend all semi-professional football activities, with immediate effect.

"This decision will be reviewed at the end of October."

In the last few weeks players had started a pre-season warm up regime and had participated in a series of friendly matches against local sides including Dyce Juniors, Hall Russell United and Peterhead.
