BUCKIE Ladies signed off their league season in style with a 7-2 thrashing of Kirkwall City.
The long trip to Halkirk was well worth it as Becca McMillan and Kourtniy Sim bagged a brace apiece –McMillan having two further goals disallowed – while Lauran Duncan, Kathryn Evans and Bethany McMillan got their names on the scoresheet.
A goal against the run of play put the hosts in front but they found themselves 5-1 down by the half time whistle.
Jubilant Buckie manager Mel Smith said: “This week and last week were the best football we’ve ever played, we just gelled and everything we’ve been working on just came together.
“There’ve been quite a few games we’ve been close but not quite there.
“However, there’s still plenty we need to work and build on for next season.
“Everybody’s just buzzing, what a way to sign off our season. The team all had to pay a full 90 minutes as we’d no subs apart from me.”
Smith selected three standouts from the game for Buckie – centre half Sara Christie, midfielder Laura Duncan and forward Becca McMillan.
Buckie have finished the Highlands and Islands Women’s League in fifth spot, with 10 points from 11 games. Their debut season in this league asaw them reach a cup semi-final.
