To compound their misery the Maroons had to play the last 20 minutes with ten men after Liam Strachan received a second yellow card.

One bright light from the otherwise disappointing night’s proceedings was the substitute appearance of 16-year-old Callum Dunbar for the final five minutes.

Coincidentally his dad Mike, a former Keith FC Young Player of the Year like his uncle Scott, made a similar appearance against Elgin City 37 years earlier almost to the day.

The injury and suspension ravaged homesters were left gasping by a three goals in eight minutes salvo that left them trailing 4-0 at half time.

Michael Philipson, Jack Henderson and Dean Lawrie netted the quick fire goals, then Mark Gilmour struck a couple of minutes before the break.

Two goals in two minutes from Henderson and Philipson after half time left Keith floundering before Strachan’s dismissal left them well and truly sunk.

Keith team: Shingler, Thomas, Selfridge, Hutcheon (Dunbar 85), R Robertson, Yunus, Tough, Strachan, Gray (McKeown 74), Stewart, (Brownie 67), Ironside.

Unused sub: Irvine

Referee: Liam Duncan
