North junior football: Islavale edge out Forres Thistle, stalemate for New Elgin and Burghead Thistle and home defeat for Deveronside

Islavale moved up to fourth spot in the North Junior Championship with a win over Moray rivals Forres Thistle.

Owen Christie's second half strike proved to be the difference between the teams at Simpson Park.

It was goalless in Elgin where Burghead Thistle were New Elgin's visitors to Nicol-Togneri Park.

Both sides are still looking for their first league win, although New Elgin have already qualified for the Grill Cup quarter-finals.

Deveronside took a bruising 5-0 defeat away to Cruden Bay.

But Rothie Rovers returned to winning ways with a 3-1 success at home to Longside.

Jake Stewart's sixth goal of the season sealed the win after Gavin Smart had opened the scoring, Rovers' other strike was an own goal.

Hermes and Culter both won to make it three wins out of three at the top of the Premier League.

And Sunnybank have a similar record at the summit of the Championship following their narrow success at Buchanhaven Hearts.
