Ellon United 0 – Aberdeen East End 3

Ellon United got off to the worst possible start in their Superleague match against East End at The Meadows on Saturday.

With barely a minute on the clock United were caught out looking for an offside decision with East End`s Adam Jonji running clear and rounding keeper Archie Mackay to give the visitors a dream start.

Boosted by their flying start East End were dominating the play with Jonji prominent in everything they did.

United were unable to gain a foothold and only showed in flashes with the visitors proving physically stronger and winning most of the battles. The home side were guilty of giving the ball away too easily at times.

Despite having the upper hand East End had to rely on a great save from keeper Zack Ellis to turn a fine shot from Jordan Morrice round his post.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 16th minute. United were robbed of the ball in midfield and it was switched out wide to Jonji who moved forward and fired a left foot shot low into the bottom corner.

Ellon found themselves three goals adrift in the 36th minute. United were caught out for the second time looking for the referee to halt play, this time for a free-kick, and they paid the price through Ross Chouman's shot from the edge of the box.

The second period was a much closer affair but although the home side made better use of the ball they were unable to exert any sustained pressure on the East End goal.

A good move down the right midway through the half did see United find the net only for the goal to be chalked off.

United are on league duty again next Saturday with a short trip to face Maud.
