Highland League’s first managerial casualty of season 2024-25 arrives as Strathspey Thistle sack ex-Rothes boss Bobby Beckwith
The first sacking of the Highland League season has arrived just three weeks into the campaign.
Strathspey Thistle have announced that manager Bobby Beckwith and his assistant Ronnie Sharp have left their posts at Seafield Park after just four competitive matches.
Beckwith joined Strathspey having been assistant and interim manager at Rothes, but has been dismissed after a 6-1 battering from Forres Mechanics on Saturday.
Grant Mackellar, the club’s CEO, said: “Strathspey Thistle has parted company with Bobby Beckwith and Ronnie Sharp.
“As CEO, I have always held high expectations for our club.
“While our pre-season showed promise, our recent performances have been disappointing and have not met the standards we strive for.
“We are actively working on appointing a new management team and will keep you informed of any developments.”
Strathspey, who finished bottom of last season’s Highland League, are already rooted to the bottom of this season’s table - with four losses from four games.
The Jags - who signed a lot of new players in summer - were six goals down at half-time in Saturday’s thrashing by Forres.
