Highland League round-up: Keith stun leaders Brora Rangers while Buckie Thistle score seven at Deveronvale and Forres Mechanics edge Moray derby with Lossiemouth
The Highland League leaders were toppled in the shock result of the season so far.
Keith produced a stunning 3-2 win away to Brora Rangers, who had won every fixture in league and cup so far this season.
The Maroons’ hero was striker Ryan Park, signed on loan from Inverurie Locos and a double scorer on his debut.
They had the worst possible start when Michael Finnis scored for Brora in the first minute.
Mikey Ironside levelled for Keith only for Max Ewan to restore the home lead within a minute, just before the break.
Park netted twice in a six minute spell after the break to give Keith a priceless victory.
Buckie Thistle came from behind to record a superb 7-1 derby success at Deveronvale.
Harry Noble gave Vale an early lead but a Josh Peters double and goals by Joe McCabe and Jack MacIver had Jags comfortably ahead at the break.
Peters completed his hat-trick in the second half and Lyall Keir scored twice.
Brechin City are the new leaders after a 4-1 win at Wick Academy, helped by a Dayle Robertson hat-trick.
The Moray derby at Mosset Park produced five goals with Forres Mechanics staving off a Lossiemouth fightback to win 3-2 and go fifth.
Shaun Sutherland and Kyle MacLeod both netted past Mechanics legend Stuart Knight in the first half but a Ross Archibald header and a Dean Stewart penalty squared it.
Matty Jamieson’s fifth goal for Cans since his move from Elgin won it with 15 minutes to go.
Banks o’ Dee tasted defeat for the first time in the league as Logan Watt’s goal earned home side Fraserburgh a 1-0 success.
Rothes’ poor run of form continued as they went down 4-0 at home to Inverurie Locos, who moved into third spot.
Daniel Agnew, Mark Souter, Aidan Wilson (pen) and Calum Dingwall found the net at MacKessack Park.
Three goals at the end of the first half settled the match at Christie Park between Huntly and Clach.
Connor Bunce and Scott Davidson struck for Clach with Ruari Fraser’s effort for the home side in vain as they lost 2-1.
Goals by Matty Wright and Andrew Greig earned Nairn County a 2-0 success at Turriff United, who missed a penalty through John Allan and had Ewan Clark sent off.
Strathspey Thistle are four points adrift at the bottom after losing 4-0 at home to Formartine United.
An own goal and strikes by Lewis Wilson, Tyler Mykyta and Matthew McLean settled the contest in Grantown.
