Rovers found themselves 4-0 down before mounting a late fightback in the last 20 minutes through Brodie Christie and Mikey Simpson, although Hearts extinguished any glimmer of hope with a fifth.

Rovers co-manager Kyle Mackay said: “We started OK but didn’t create much, we basically didn’t turn up.

"We did fight back but it was far too late. If anybody finds themselves dropped for Saturday, they can have no complaints”

Next up is Scottish Junior Cup round 3 business this Saturday when Rovers host South Ayrshire side Blantyre Victoria, kick-off 2.30pm.
