THE return of goalkeeper Grant Pennet has given Deveronvale manager Stevie Dolan a happy team selection headache.

Fit again after a spell out injured, Pennet was back between the sticks for Vale last Wednesday when Errol Watson was sent off during the 5-0 defeat at champions Cove.

Watson was then banned for Saturday's 2-2 draw against Keith but is available for next weekend's trip to Brora Rangers, leaving Dolan with a dilemma on who to hand the number one jersey to.

"They are both experienced and professional enough to realise only one of them can play at a time," said the Vale boss. "They have both been brilliant for me since they came in.

"Grant came on last Wednesday and did alright and he had a couple of good saves on Saturday. Errol has done well so it's competition, and although its good having two top keepers it is going to be tough and I will have to decide that during the week.

"I will talk it over with Craig (assistant boss Stewart) and come to a decision but it's good to have them both back."

Not such a pleasing situation on the selection front is Vale's growing injury list, with more walking wounded after Saturday's derby clash.

Kevin Adams had to go off at half time due to a groin strain while Steven Davidson, just back after a year out, aggravated his knee during a late sub appearance. Both are rated doubtful for the journey to Sutherland.

"We could be down to 12 or 13 players which isn't ideal but we will just have to deal with it."

Vale have paid for Dane Ballard to get a private scan on his long term knee problem, while Liam Forbes is set to return to light training soon following a horror head knock last season. Graeme Watt is still out with a knee injury.
