Highland League round-up: Fraserburgh suffer their first loss of season

It was Rothes who would turn out to be the side to end Fraserburgh's unbeaten start to the season after a battling 2-1 victory at Bellslea Park in what was the Speysiders' first victory in the Broch since 1997.

Alan Pollock scored from the spot after a foul on Gary Kerr before skipper Bruce Milne thundered home a header to put the Speysiders two goals up at the break.

Grant Campbell made things uncomfortable for the visitors when he pulled one back with 15 minutes to play but Rothes held on to secure a big three points in Fraserburgh.

Formartine United secured a comfortable 4-1 victory against visitors Deveronvale to make it three wins in a row.

Stuart Anderson put the hosts into an early lead before Tyler Mykyta doubled the advantage on 27 minutes.

Scott Lisle seemingly wrapped up the points for United shortly after the break before Max Stewart pulled one back for Vale.

However the visitor's resistance was finally broken when Graeme Rodger popped up three minutes from time to put the result beyond doubt.

Brora's Highland League run of good form continued with a 4-0 victory at home to Turriff United.

Colin Williamson's first half brace put Craig Campbell's side in total control at half time.

Andy Macrae's fine finish put the result beyond doubt before Harry Hennem added the gloss with a fourth late on to cap yet another impressive Cattachs performance.

Inverurie Locos were this week's score sheets biggest winners as they travelled away to Wick Academy where they dominated the home side in a 6-0 victory.

Kieran Shanks grabbed a fine hat-trick in a man of the match performance while goals from Mark Souter, Ross Still and Robert Ward completed the rout.

A first half capitulation from Huntly saw Forres secure all three points in a 5-2 victory at Christie Park.

Huntly's Michael Dangana had given the hosts the dream start when he put his side ahead on 12 minutes.

However, the Cans rallied and found themselves 2-1 ahead after a quick-fire double from Owen Paterson and Thomas Brady.

Paul Brindle added a third for the visitors on 36 minutes before Paterson picked up his second of the game two minutes later.

Cameron Heslop pulled one back for the hosts at the start of the second half before Brindle bagged his second and a game killing fifth goal for Forres ten minutes from time.

Lossiemouth let an early lead slip at home to Nairn in a tightly contested 1-1 draw on the Moray coast.

Ryan Sewell had put the hosts in front after converting a penalty after just 10 minutes only for Sam Gordon to level the tie for Nairn 15 minutes later.

Both sides struggled to carve out a any clear cut chances as they went in search of a winner in typically blustery conditions. Both sides ultimately had to settle for a point.

Brechin were made to work for their victory as they edged a tight encounter 1-0 away to Clach.

Marc Scott's second half goal earned City a priceless win in Inverness as they look to close the gap on league leaders Fraserburgh.

Elsewhere there was a big win for Buckie Thistle as they dismantled Strathspey 6-0 at Seafield Park.

Meanwhile Keith's game against Fort William at Kynock Park was called off after a failed pitch inspection on Friday night.

Saturday's round of fixtures leaves Fraserburgh six points clear at the summit of the table despite their defeat to Rothes.

Meanwhile, Fort William remain marooned at the bottom, eight points adrift of Strathspey.
