The 28-year-old former Arbroath and Peterhead number one will replace Fraser Hobday, who was released by Huntly at the end of last season to take a break from football.

Wilson won the Highland League with City in 2023 and will pen a two-year deal at Huntly.

He said on the club’s website that he was really looking forward to a new challenge at Christie Park.

“The time felt right for a change after three years at Brechin,” he said. “After meeting with Colin (Huntly manager Charlesworth) and his coaching staff along with Gordon (chairman Carter) they immediately made it very clear how keen they were to get me on board.

“They pitched their expectations for the upcoming season and beyond convincingly so I’m hoping I can help an already talented group to achieve these goals.

“At Brechin I enjoyed being part of a community club with a proper fan base, so joining Huntly with this in place is something I’m excited about.

“A couple of the current players have been in touch over the last few weeks trying to get me to sign…and it’s worked! So I’m really looking forward to meeting the team along with all the staff, volunteers and supporters and together we can bring in some silverware to Christie Park.”

Huntly have hinted in their social media that a second, big name signing is in the pipeline.

Charlesworth said he was delighted to bring in Wilson as Hobday’s replacement.

“His stature over the last three seasons with Brechin has been one of the best and most consistent keepers in the league.

“When we heard he was potentially available we knew we had to act quick as we knew he would have a lot of offers.

“As soon we started to speak I knew his character would be one that would thrive in our team.

“To be able to add someone of his quality and winning mentality will help us progress again as a group and I personally am looking forward to seeing him at his best in Huntly colours.”

Chairman Carter said: “There is a lot of work going on at this time of the year as the manager and his coaching team identify targets who they feel would improve our squad going forward.

“As you would expect there were a number of clubs both in the Highland League and in the Scottish Football Leagues looking to sign Lenny

“I am delighted that he chosen to sign a pre contract for Huntly having agreed a two- year deal that will start after his current contract with Brechin ends in June

“Signing a keeper of Lenny’s ability, experience and stature is a huge coup for Huntly and is indicative of the desire and ambition of the managers, coaching staff, players and the club itself.”

Huntly also signed attacker Alex Matczak from North Junior Championship winners Lossiemouth United, and announced contract extensions for key players Zander Jack and Lewis Crosbie.
