It was Clachnacuddin who would emerge triumphant from a five-goal second-half clash at Grant Street Park as they faced a determined Turriff who are at present still seeking that elusive first victory of the season.

After a monumental mid-week comeback which saw them draw three-all with Rothes, the Haugh's side were on the hunt for goals.

The balance between the sides was played out as both teams probed into the oppositions defences.

United's Owen Kinsella’s rattled one from outside the box which narrowly missed the Clach goal and was the closest to a shot on goal from the visitors, while Clach's Lewis Nicolson was afforded a clean run which was fired across goal but failed to connect with any of his fellow players.

Inspiration for Turriff finally came in 49 minutes when Matty McDonald beat Martin Mackinnon with a low level take from around 15 yards out marking the first time United hace scored the opening goal in a game this season.

It took just eight minutes for the reply to come from James Anderson sent a header over d keeper Tim Hendry and into the far corner of the net for the equaliser.

United's Jordan Cooper was denied a belter by the woodwork when a swerving shot from 25-yards sailed past the keeper only to rattle off the back post.

Turriff were made to pay for this just a minute later when Anderson sent in another header to give Clach the lead.

With less than 10 minutes left on the clock, Clach substitute Connor Bunce ran unchallenged to fire it home and make it three to the home side.

Having been in the same position on Wednesday evening, United could almost have had a feeling of deja-vu when Murray Cormack was brought in the box and McDonald grabbed his second goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot.

But it was not to be and Turriff continue to chase that first win.

Turriff boss Dean Donaldson said: “We could have taken something from the game but you can’t lose three goals and expect to win a game, or even draw."

Clachnacuddin manager Jordan Macdonald said: "“We made hard work of it, but we got there in the end.

“We gave away a sloppy first goal, and then got ourselves into a really good position but we switched off and gave away a penalty.

"When a team scores late on it could become quite tense, but I thought we managed the last five minutes after the penalty well."
