Family-friendly BBC Festival taking centre stage at Sports Village

By Grant Milne

IN conjunction with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Aberdeen, BBC Sport is bringing the first ever Festival of Sport to the city with tickets on sale today.

At the Aberdeen Sports Village on the weekend of Friday 13-Saturday 14 December, families and young can take part in a lengthy list of activities, ranging from athletics to horse racing and snow sports, while getting advice and insight from top coaches and professionals.

Sporting heroes such as Scotland and Manchester United legend Denis Law will take part in a Q&A discussion, alongside Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson, cricketer Eoin Morgan, and commentators Steve Cram and Alison Curbishley.

For long-distance runners, the Tumbleator gives visitors the chance to pit themselves against the speed of marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge by seeing how long they can stay on a 20ft treadmill at the Kenyan's incredible pace.

Tickets to attend the festival on Saturay, December 14 are available from 2pm TODAY (Thursday) at: www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/.
