New Christie Park boss Allan Hale made his first signing in the job by bringing in Laird as his number two at the weekend.

“I am pleased that Stefan has agreed to join the club as assistant manager," Hale said on the club's website.

"Stefan is an experienced coach who boasts an impressive CV and I know he is someone who will work well with myself, players and board at the club."

Laird played professionally in his younger days with spells at Rangers and Blackpool, before injury ended his career on the pitch.

He moved into coaching, initially at Morton before joining Aberdeen to coach their under-20s female team then graduating to the first team.

He is fully qualified as a holder of multiple UEFA badges.

"Stefan and I share a similar outlook on how the game should be played and he has the right attributes to make an excellent contribution to the club," Hale added.
