Ellon Bowling Club officially opened for their outdoor season after a delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ongoing guidelines mean that a number of restrictions have been put in place at the club to protect members, including a new booking system, a reduction in the number of rinks used to maintain social distancing and regular sanitisation of mats and jacks.

The current guidelines also mean that the clubhouse, including toilets, need to remain closed and those attending the club should not sit on the spectator benches.

Unfortunately no formal competitions are able to take place this season, but bowlers were eager to get back to the green regardless.

The first bowl of the season was played by club president Arthur Killicoat.

Since the green re-opened a number of local bowlers have enjoyed returning to the sport and participating in non-competitive matches with their bowling friends.

Oldmeldrum Outdoor Bowling Club have also reopened with similar restrictions, and the first bowl was played by club president Martin Bridge.

Pitmedden Bowling Club reopened in May.
