Vale boss Steve Dolan is happy to strengthen his squad ahead of his team's Aberdeenshire Cup opener against Dyce Juniors.
Wide midfielder Ryan Farquhar (26) had made a return to playing from a knee injury when Forres announced they wouldn't be taking part in the Highland League this season.
The arrival of Aaron Hamilton (24) in centre defence will compensate for the loss of Michael Dunn, who won't play this season due to family and work commitments.
Dolan said on the club's Facebook: “"I’ve been an admirer of Ryan’s play for a number of years and did try to sign him whilst he was Lossiemouth.
"He is an enthusiastic, combative player who also has an eye for goal."
Farquhar also had a spell with Elgin City in the SPFL.
Hamilton is another who wore the black and white at Elgin then moved to Lossie and Forres.
“Adding Aaron to our defensive options is a big boost after Michael Dunn decided that family and works demands made it impossible to continue playing football this season," Dolan added.
"Aaron is a very promising young player with a very positive attitude and his energy and ability make him an important addition to the squad.”
Both could come into the Vale squad for tonight's home cup tie against Dyce.
The Banff side are without injured trio Colin Charlesworth, Matthew Wallace and Kyle Willox.
