BUCKIE Thistle made heavy weather of securing all three points against bottom-of-the-table Lossiemouth as Storm Dennis raged at Victoria Park on Saturday.
The Jags were far from their best on a horrendous day for football.
After conceding a shock early goal to Ryan Sewell, they levelled before half-time when Scott Adams was fouled just inside the box by Kyle Willis and Sam Urquhart scored from the penalty spot.
After the break Buckie had the storm at their backs and they pressed Lossie back.
However, they failed to trouble Stewart Black in the visitors’ goal until the final five minutes of the game when an Andy MacAskill corner was bundled home by Lewis MacKinnon and then sub Steven Ross blasted in a third in added time.
The result was harsh on a Lossie side who created three really good chances to take the lead in the second half.
Lee Herbert pulled off a good save to deny Willis when through one on one and when the same player did beat the keeper, Sam Morrison was on hand to clear off the line. Herbert showed great reflexes to tip a wind-assisted Ross Elliott free kick over the bar.
Buckie: Herbert, McCabe, MacKinnon, Morrison, Murray, Adams (Murray), Fraser, MacAskill, Urquhart (Cowie), Goodall (Ross), MacLeod.
