Elgin City Football Club down on their luck in East Fife defeat as match highlights shine light on a controversial clash in Methil
Defeat was cruel on Elgin City in a bad tempered clash with East Fife on Saturday.
City gave up top spot in League 2 to their Fife hosts after a 97th minute strike earned the Methil men a 2-1 victory.
It was a confrontational match, as East Fife TV highlights above show.
East Fife grabbed the lead through a Reis Peggie goal with Mark Gallagher’s long range strike equalising before the half hour.
Elgin striker Dajon Golding hit the post after going round the keeper and looking certain to score.
City’s on-loan Kilmarnock teenager Kian Leslie was the victim of a crude challenge from Fifers attacker Alan Trouten, who looked fortunate to be shown only a yellow card.
There were other exchanges between the players on the pitch as both teams chased victory.
The winning goal came from virtually the last kick, with a free kick rebounding off the bar before a deflected Jess Norey shot spun past a helpless Aidan Glavin in the City goal.
