In keeping with the rest of Scottish football, Buckie Ladies' season was effectively cancelled in March when the SFA locked the sport down as part of the national effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The axe was actually to fall only a couple of days before the team were due to play their first game of the season in the Highlands and Islands League.

However, while the future of this new season remains as yet undecided, the Ladies are set to take to the all-weather pitch in Buckie to start blowing away the cobwebs of the past six months.

Team manager Mel Smith said: "We're delighted to ge back to training, it's been a long time since we've kicked a ball.

"At the moment we're not going to be running training for the young girls in the development section but we will have the under-13s training with us to help ease their transition up the ranks.

"There will obviously be a lot of safety measures in place due to Covid but it'll be nice to get back t some sort of normal."

Smith went on to appeal for both volunteer coaches and players to come forward and join up. Those interested can either turn up on the night, message Buckie Ladies through their Facebook page or message Smith directly.

Training is scheduled to run from 6.30pm through to 8pm.
